  1. What lovely light in these pictures – how cold was it? And what is the pot bellied black object in the corner? A chimney-less stove? a composter?

Thank you. About -14 this morning and one of those times when everything outside is just fringed in ice crystals and bits of snow. That is indeed a chimneyless little woodstove. It’s destined for a little shack that we’re planning to build this year down at the pond. We’re going to have a big burn outside first to get all that black paint off that someone so lovingly applied!

  2. Wow! Simply lovely. I feel more at peace just having looked at your photos! What a great view — and you captured the morning light just right.

That makes me feel so good, what a bonus, as I largely found myself taking them to step outside the rushing around of our daily routines. Thank you!

  3. Absolutely beautiful. I went back twice, for more scrolling! The dappled sunlight kissing the trees in the first photo… those amazing long shadows in the last photo… and your lovely timber paneling! Lucky, lucky you.

Thank you Sas! The long shadows are definitely my favourite; they appeared suddenly just a few minutes after I took the first three and fortunately I still had time to grab another shot before getting absorbed into my day. Lovely to hear from you.

  4. I’ve not been back to Michigan in Winter for some time and your photos give a glimpse of what I’ve been missing. Seeing the sun rise over snow woods is a great way to start a day, even if it is too cold to go out into it. :)

I'd love to hear your thoughts
